What is Mambo?
Here at KD Dance, the salsa style we teach is Mambo (or Salsa On2, New York Style). This is a dance style popularized by Eddie Torres in the 60s and 70s, which has its origins in the Palladium of New York (very popular in the 50s). Eddie Torres was one of the first dancers to regularize dancing in accordance with the clave, introducing the concept of “musical timing” (to simplify the understanding of figures and combinations). Eddie Torres is known as "The Father of Mambo", and many dancers and musicians have continued and enriched this legacy, which is what we know today as Mambo, or Salsa On2.

Partnerwork Courses
Salsa (Mambo) Partnerwork - Beginner Level
Tuesdays 6:30pm - $120/ 6 classes
If you want to learn Mambo from zero, this course is for you. From people who have never danced before to people that have some knowledge of salsa and want the fundamentals of Mambo. In this course we cover the basic steps of Mambo, timing, musicality (and understanding of the music), basic turns, connection tips, and the basic concepts of social partnerwork. We want to help you to create a solid base in Mambo with the right fundamentals and technique. This is your first step in the journey to a new level of dancing.

Salsa (Mambo) Partnerwork - Improver Level
Tuesdays 7:30pm - $120/ 6 classes
If you already have the fundamentals of Mambo and want to keep improving your technique and rerepertoire of movements, the Mambo Improvers Course is for you. This course covers a deeper understanding of the musical patterns and sections, another level of turns (and the rignt way to lead them), styling and tips for followers, another level of connections, body movement and posture, all of this with a personalized teaching style, to help you to increase your confidence and skills as a dancer.

Shines Courses
Salsa (Mambo) Shines - Improver/Intermediate Level
Tuesdays 8:30pm - $120/ 6 classes
If you already have the fundamentals of Mambo Shines and want to keep learning the next level of the mambo syllabus, the Mambo shines Improvers Course is for you. This course covers a deeper understanding of the musical breaks, dissociation on the movements, syncopation and another level of styling, body movement and posture, all of this with a personalized teaching style, to help you to increase your confidence and skills as a dancer. This course is the right complement to your partnerwork course , or as an individual course.
